Legislative Updates from Rep. Fritts

For my September 2024 local business highlight, I chose to honor Poolside Pools and Spas because of their contributions to our community and their continued effort to provide great service to our area.

Poolside Pools and Spas was founded by owners Jim and Cary McCue in 2006. They offer a number of different services, including inground pools, saunas, and more.

Jim and Cary are dedicated to our community. They are active with our local Boy Scout troops, support school boosters and fundraisers, and assist with hospice fundraisers. Their work has made a real difference in our community, and I am grateful for all that they have done to uplift others.

I had the chance to speak at the Sterling Riverfront Park groundbreaking ceremony, alongside Sterling Mayor Diana Merdian. Congratulations to the City of Sterling for making this project a reality! We are all looking forward to the completion of this new community space!

I co-hosted a meet and greet with the new Illinois Department of Transportation Region 2 engineer Trisha Thompson and local transportation officials to discuss infrastructure and transportation in our communities. Thanks to State Representative Jeff Keicher and Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie for joining me in hosting this event!

My staff attended the VisitNW Illinois annual meeting. They discussed what makes our area great and their upcoming plans to attract more visitors!

The Dixon Family YMCA hosted me for a tour of their soon-to-be-completed childcare center! This new facility will be able to accommodate over 200 children, which is a much-needed service in our area. Looking forward to the grand opening of this great new space!
