Legislative Updates from Rep. Fritts

Last week, we went back to Springfield for week one of our fall veto session. Tomorrow, we will convene for the beginning of week two. Thus far, no significant legislation has been brought to the House floor for a vote, despite the urgent need for property tax relief, ethics reform, and more.

I am excited to attend the upcoming Illinois Soybean Growers 2024 Farm Business Summit on Tuesday, December 17th, alongside my colleague State Senator Andrew Chesney! We will be giving a legislative update and discussing key legislation for our soybean growers. For more information, click here

I recently had the chance to visit the Surgical Technician Program at Illinois Central College with Leader Ryan Spain. We were able to have an in-depth, hands-on experience where we learned more about what their program offers. Thank you to Director Sonya Conton and everyone who welcomed us for this visit!

I attended the Annual Law Enforcement Legislative Luncheon in Freeport. Alongside House Republican Leader Tony McCombie and Leader John Cabello, we listened to concerns from law enforcement about disastrous public safety policies in Illinois, such as the SAFE-T Act. We also discussed solutions and new legislation that will make our communities safer.

I had the honor of speaking at the Veterans Day Breakfast in Rochelle. We can always do more for our veterans, and I appreciated speaking with many of the brave men and women who have served about ways I can help their community.

Congratulations to the Whiteside County Health Department on the grand opening of your new Optometry Services facility! Optometry and other specialized care are increasingly limited in our area, so I am thrilled that we are bringing this new care facility to our community.

During my time touring the 74th District, I’ve heard from many constituents and organizations who want to support our local communities but don’t know where to start. To meet this need, I am proud to introduce my new ‘Community Calendar’ on my official state website! Here, residents can view upcoming community events in one streamlined location.
