E-News Updates from Rep. Fritts – May 19, 2025

Happy Monday!

This Friday is our Senate Bill 3rd reading deadline, which requires us to vote on Senate bills that will continue in the legislative process. The following week is our scheduled adjournment date, which may be delayed due to budgeting troubles in the majority party.

Stay tuned to my next e-newsletter for information about our FY26 budget and the end of session.

Last week, I announced my third annual summer tour! These annual summer tours have become one of my favorite parts of being a State Representative. It allows me to meet with hundreds of constituents and have authentic conversations about their needs and priorities. Being able to assist them with state issues or bringing their ideas back with me to Springfield is what this job is all about.

The tour consists of coffee & conversation events and town halls held on most Wednesdays from June 4th to August 27th. Coffee & conversation events will all be held at locally-owned coffee shops and restaurants. I will also be touring local businesses, attending community events, and more.

I look forward to meeting with as many of my constituents as possible this summer, as I work to better understand the needs of every community in the 74th District.

Franklin Grove – Lincoln Way Cafe – 137 N. Elm Street (8:00 am to 10:00 am)

Waterman – Clinton Township Community Center – 160 W. Lincoln Highway (6:00 pm to 7:00 pm)

Shabbona Cafe – 114 W. Comanche Avenue (8:00 am to 10:00 am)

Leland Village Hall – 285 W. Genesee Street (6:00 pm to 7:00 pm)

Cledy’s House of Hope hosted a ribbon-cutting to celebrate their new location in Rock Falls. Cledy’s is a sober living facility for women and will host 42 beds when they officially open their doors this summer. Congratulations to Cledy’s and everyone who helped make this facility a reality!

My office hosted a prescription drug drop-off drive at the Mendota Civic Center. Thank you to our partners, the Mendota Police Department, the Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Mendota for helping us with this event!

I stood alongside my colleagues and firefighters from across Illinois at the Fallen Firefighter Memorial and Medal of Honor Ceremony. This memorial is a constant reminder of the brave men and women who selflessly protect our communities every day. May we never forget the courage of our firefighters, especially those we have lost in the line of duty!

My office attended a ribbon-cutting at Mindful Matters Therapy in Rochelle. With May being Mental Health Awareness Month, it was the perfect opportunity to celebrate the critical role Mindful Matters, and other mental healthcare providers, play in our community!

We had incredible turnout at our Sharps Drop Off event with 35 containers of sharps collected from the public. Thank you to our partners for this event, Dixon Family YMCA, Lee County Health Department, and Sauk Valley Voices of Recovery, for making this drive a success!

Congratulations to Granny Rose Animal Shelter on officially joining Discover Dixon! Thank you to the incredible staff at Granny Rose for all that you do to help animals in our community.

If you plan to visit Springfield in the coming months, please reach out! I am always available for my constituents and would be happy to meet with you during your visit. It is crucial that the government operates with transparency, and I encourage you to hold me, and my colleagues, accountable!
