Good afternoon!
Legislators are back in Springfield this week for session. Session is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday this week, and can be livestreamed here.
This week, we will see Governor Pritzker give his annual State of the State Address. More information on that below.
Beyond Governor Pritzker’s Address, we don’t expect to see any significant action occurring in Springfield. While we did have many committees scheduled for this week, over half of them were abruptly canceled just a few hours ago.
State of the State and Budget Address
Tomorrow, Governor J.B. Pritzker will give his State of the State and Budget Address. This annual address to the people of Illinois will outline his legislative and budget priorities for the year.
Unfortunately, last year’s address was filled with divisive and incendiary rhetoric aimed at scoring political points, not passing good policy for the people of Illinois. While I hope this year is different, it is clear that Governor Pritzker utilizes these annual addresses to bolster his national image.
The State of the State Address is scheduled to begin tomorrow at noon. You can watch live here.

I had a wonderful evening attending the Morrison Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner! Alongside other community leaders, business owners, and chamber members, we celebrated the chamber’s successes and learned more about ongoing initiatives.
