SPRINGFIELD – Yesterday, House Bill 910, also known as the Megaproject Bill, passed the Illinois House with a bipartisan vote of 78-32.
“I voted in favor of the megaproject bill because it protects local control, increases economic development, and drives investment across Illinois,” said Rep. Fritts. “This bill does more than just keep the conversations going with the Chicago Bears – it creates a framework for major economic development opportunities across Illinois.
“I will always vote in favor of increased local control because I believe our local elected officials know our communities best and deserve a seat at the table. This bill will require the creation of local review boards and periodic public impact reports, ensuring long-term accountability and transparency.
“House Bill 910 will also drive economic development statewide. To be clear, this bill is not a subsidy. It’s a structured agreement designed to attract large-scale investment while putting safeguards in place for taxpayers.
“I look forward to continued bipartisan discussions on this bill as it moves through the legislative process.”
