Affordability Press Conference

I recently joined my Republican colleagues in a press conference about affordability in Illinois.
Affordability is the top issue for Illinoisans. At any time, Governor Pritzker could join our efforts by temporarily suspending the state sales tax on gas, which is a tax on a tax. I signed onto House Bill 5738, which would suspend the state sales tax on gas for six months, to allow Illinois families to save a little bit of extra money every time they fill their tank.
But instead of providing meaningful relief, the Governor would rather keep this added tax and then turn around and say this is all President Trump’s fault. Well, good leaders don’t pass the buck. They take accountability and find solutions to problems.
I call on my fellow lawmakers to support this common-sense piece of legislation aimed at making life more affordable here in Illinois.

Community Outreach

Multiple local chambers, including the Rock Falls Chamber, Discover Dixon, and the Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, came together in celebration of CGH Medical Center’s renovation. This renovation included their cafeteria, coffee shop, and gift shop. Congratulations to CGH on this great renovation as you continue providing healthcare to our community!

It was my honor to attend the annual Police Memorial in Springfield. Every year, we attend this memorial to show our support for the brave men and women who serve and protect our communities. Their sacrifice and bravery should never be taken for granted, which is why I will always stand strong for our law enforcement officers. Thank you for all that you do!

I attended the annual Firefighter Memorial in Springfield. It was a somber reminder of those we’ve lost to the dangers facing our firefighters every day. Thank you to the brave men and women who risk their lives to keep our communities safe. We will never forget your bravery and sacrifice!

United Way Lee County recently hosted a luncheon where they celebrated their first year of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library! This program currently helps provide books to over 250 kids in our community. Thank you to United Way for the incredible work you do to improve the lives of residents in our area!

I stood alongside State Senator Li Arellano and Rep. Darin LaHood to present our communities with a $2 million check to develop the Fargo Creek Mediation Project. This project will develop a retention pond in the area, providing critical flood infrastructure relief and opening up over 3 acres of commercial development area. Thank you to everyone who worked to make this project possible!
