According to the Chicago Tribune, Speaker Welch has been holding meetings with members of his caucus to try to contain the fallout from his lack of response to harassment allegations against disgraced former Rep. Harry Benton. This is absolutely not the time for closed-door meetings. The people of Illinois deserve truth and transparency about exactly how the Speaker handled this ethics scandal.
