E-News Updates from Rep. Fritts – April 7, 2026

Good afternoon,

Today, the Illinois House of Representatives was back in session down in Springfield. Next Friday is the House Bill 3rd Reading Deadline. This means that all House bills are supposed to be voted on and passed along to the Senate by the end of the day. However, House Democrats have the ability to adjust the rules as they see fit. Either way, next week is sure to be busy with dozens of bills being passed through the House.

I also want to thank everyone who signed my petition to stop a bad bill proposed by Illinois Democrats that would require all ammunition to be taxed and serialized. This bill was nothing more than an attempt to continue burdening law-abiding gun owners, without doing anything to stop actual criminals.

The support we received on this petition, on social media, and through communications to my office were overwhelming. I heard you loud and clear – no more overreach to suppress our Second Amendment rights! I will continue to fight to protect that right in Springfield and truly appreciate everyone who got involved in the process. While I can never guarantee that any bill is truly defeated in Springfield, this proposal did not move out of committee before our House Committee Deadline.

Upcoming Session Days:

  • April 7-9
  • April 14-17
  • April 21-23

Community Outreach

Congratulations to the Amboy Football Team on their victory at the I8FA championship! But the Amboy Clippers didn’t just win this year, they’ve actually won the last two years as well, making this the first-ever three-peat victory in I8FA history! I proudly presented the team with the resolution I filed in honor of this incredible achievement.

My office attended a ribbon cutting to celebrate the new location for Rays of Wellness in Dixon. They offer counseling services for adults, teens, and youth ages nine and above. This new office will help increase access to these critical services in our community!

Better Bargains – Dixon celebrated their grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony. They are a dedicated merchandise reseller and offer great deals on a variety of items. We are so excited to welcome this new store to our community!

My office joined in the celebration of WSI-Wallin Group’s investment into our community! We are all so excited to see your success and growth in Downtown Dixon.

I attended the LaSalle County Legislative Breakfast. Alongside my colleagues in the House and the Senate, we spoke with leaders from across LaSalle County about what is happening down in Springfield. One hot topic was the estate tax and how it needs serious reform to protect our family run farms and businesses. Thank you for hosting us!

What a fun morning at the Lunch with Leadership event at Tilton School in Rochelle! I helped serve up lunch for 233 students and enjoyed speaking with them about my role as a State Representative. Thanks to Tilton School for welcoming me!
